50 Shades....of Black.

There is something beautifully alluring about black...the depth, the texture, the variation. It's my go-to for any fashion emergency, and we all know too well, the importance of a Little Black Dress! This season, black is back. But not just black...dark tones in general, from deep purples to burgundy wine colours. And I for one, could not be happier!

This moody and romantic turn of palette brings velvet, lace, leather and sheer fabrics to the fore. And with it comes studding details, creepers and gothic accessories. 

There is something to be said for individual style, and our selection of velvet will keep you on trend, without looking like a copycat! These beautiful jackets date back to the 80s, proving velvet is pretty timeless in the style stakes...

 

I've just dressed them up with a sheer blouse with studded collar, to give them a slightly edgy up to date look. Or if you're look is a bit more feminine then slip a little lace blouse underneath, like this one...

 

Whatever way you want to wear it, black is your fail safe way to looking good this season!

Oh Deer!

There's nothing like the joy of finding a vintage gem with a unique character of it's own. This suede fringed waistcoat seems to tell you about its past, who made, who wore it, where it has been and what it has witnessed in a language that is nothing but stitches and worn patches. It's so sweet that we had to share it with you!

Pick Pocket Thursday

Once upon a time, in the land of vintage paradise, there lived baby Lamb and sleepy Dog. They were very small animals, so small in fact that they were carried around inside the zip pocket of an old leather jacket. They spent many years together and went on lots of adventures with the jacket. They went to the park, to the beach and to wild parties where they danced to Duran Duran. Once the lamb nearly blew away in the wind when they went riding on a motorbike. One day, Lamb said to Dog "Do you think we should go exploring?" But Dog was asleep so Lamb stuck her nose out from inside the pocket and discovered they were inside the Armstrongs store!

We were so excited to find these little plastic animals inside this 80s leather jacket that we went a bit silly.

Set For Flight

We often get some beautiful Aviator Jacket in stock, and these two are no exception. They both encompass the style and feel of the originals so perfectly, while still looking fresh and modern today. The classic men's aviator jacket that we currently have in stock is a classic example of what makes aviator jackets so great, with buckles at the neck, for keeping out the cold. It available from our ebay story here. The Women's jacket on the right is made by Lakeland, and is such a wearable and quality piece of clothing. It can be found at our ebay store, here.

The design for this classic style was driven from utility and necessity and has slowly developed into an iconic design. Designed to be worn in open planes, they were longer in style, and were designed to keep in as much heat as possible! The picture, left, is a photo of a WW1 pilot. They were later lined in fur, and then sheepskin, which is the style that has prevailed. So much history and tradition are wrapped up in these jackets, and they instantly evoke a certain style and look.
